Southampton vs Tottenham Prediction
Southampton dropped points for the first time in three games after they were forced to settle with a 1-1 scorecard against Crystal Palace last week. The hosts were a constant threat in the final throughout that clash and even recorded five shots on target, which was three more than their counterparts.
However, the home side were far from clinical in their efforts and had to make do with no more than a share of the spoils at the last blast of the whistle. The Saints have now admitted defeat just twice in their past eight PL games, garnering a total of fourteen points from a possible twenty-four.
On the other hand, Tottenham will be making the trip to St Mary’s Stadium on the back of a two-match unbeaten streak of their own. Their previous encounter on the road, saw them play out a 2-2 draw against Norwich. While at home, they got the better of Brighton with a 2-1 victory.
It is also worth mentioning that under Jose Mourinho, Spurs have stumbled just once on the road, that too against Manchester United by a narrow one-goal margin.
To make matters worse for the Saints faithful, Southampton have been struggling to get things going for them at home this season.
The only two wins for them at home so far have come against Norwich and Watford. Both of whom, are dwelling in the relegation zone.
Taking into account that the hosts have secured the bragging rights just once in their last seven meetings with this foe here as well, Tottenham are the outright favorites to pick up all three points this week.
Be that as it may, it needs saying that the visitors salvaged just a point in their most recent outing. Moreover, two of their past five trips to this stadium have also ended as a tie.
To top it off, Spurs will also be without the services of Heung Min Son who is out with suspension. Hence, the safest punt would have to be a Draw no Bet.
Additionally, irrespective of the result, the hosts have been keen on getting their names on the scoresheet. Ten of the twenty-four goals for them so far have come from their clashes at home.
Furthermore, six of their past seven h2h meetings here have witnessed both teams find the back of the net together. As such, count on Southampton to have their scoring boots on along with Tottenham in this one.
