Napoli vs Genoa: Prediction
The Azzurri will be hoping to snap their four-game winless streak across competitions on Saturday, when struggling Genoa pay them a visit. Carlo Ancelotti’s men come to this game on the back of a 1-1 stalemate vs Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League. They blew their first chance of securing KO phase, but I’m sure they will deliver against Genk when the time comes.
Napoli slipped to 7th position in the Serie A standings after 1-2 loss to Roma at Olimpico, and chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis ordered a week-long training retreat. However, players and the coaching staff went home after the CL game, completely ignoring Patron’s orders.
Ghoulam and Malcuit are out injured, Allan is questionable for this one.
Thiago Motta’s decision to throw players forward after an hour mark in search of a winning goal backfired as they ended up empty-handed against Udinese (1-3). Their defence was exposed and Udinese had all the space in the world for swift counter attacks and they made it count with two late goals from Sema and Lasagna. The Rossoblu’s are 17th in the standings, equal on points with their archrivals, Sampdoria.
Injured Christian Kouame will miss the trip to Naples, Marchetti is suspended.
Napoli have claimed 10 points from five games at San Paolo stadium this season. They have an average of 1.60 scored goals per bout, whilst conceding 0.80. The Azzuri have netted at least two in four of the five games at this venue.
The Rossoblu’s have collected only one point on the road this season – against Roma in season opener. Since then, they’ve lost four on the trot. Genoa are scoring 1.20 goals per match away from home, whilst conceding a whopping 3.40 goals per game.
Thiago Motta’s willingness to go all-in makes my prediction easier here.
Napoli have incredible attacking potential and they’re eager to get back on track. I’m positive they will win in an eventful game. Odds on hosts are rather low – I will add over 2.5 goals to the mix.
I’m going to back Milik to score anytime. The Polish forward has netted five goals in last four Serie A outings.
