Valencia vs Ajax Prediction & Match Preview
Valencia vs Ajax
Date: Wednesday, 2 October 2019
Kick-off at 20:00 UK / 21:00 CET
Venue: Estadio de Mestalla (Valencia).
Valencia pulled off an impressive, albeit narrow, 1-0 win over the 2019 Europa League Champions Chelsea in their opener, with Rodrigo scoring the only goal of the game. However, it is certainly worth mentioning that the squad managed no more than two shots on target in that matchup, as opposed to Chelsea’s six, and would have been forced to settle for a point, had Barkley not missed from the spot.
Ajax have been reiterating their superiority in their recent clashes and took out French outfit Lille with a 3-0 scorecard in their respective group clash. The visitors have not been showing any signs of slowing down back in the Eredivise either and are currently enjoying the view at the helm, along with an eight-match unbeaten streak under their belt.
It has been well over a decade since these two teams last locked horns with each other. Given Ajax’s immense growth over the years, Valencia’s chances of securing the bragging rights on Wednesday are certainly looking bleak.
Valencia vs Ajax Head to head (h2h)

All of their last two clashes have been low scoring ones with under 2.5 goals on the charts.

Valencia vs Ajax Prediction
The hosts have just three wins to boast of from their last eight games in all competitions, only one of which was in the comforts of their home. On the other hand, their foes for the week have been faring a lot better in their trips on the road and are yet to stumble this season.
Furthermore, the visitors have found the back of the net five times from their previous two away games alone while conceding no more than twice in the process.
Taking into account that Erik Ten Haag’s men will also be making the trip to Estadio de Mestalla on the back of an impressive two-match winning streak, Ajax are the favorites to take all three points in this one.
Nevertheless, it needs saying that Valencia have avoided defeat on home soil in their last two games by forcing their opponents to share the spoils with them. Considering that two out of their past three clashes on the road for Ajax have also ended in a tie, the safest punt would have to be a double chance.
In addition, the home team have been consistent in getting their names on the scoresheet in their last four games here. Their Dutch counterparts have not been shy in front of goal on the road either and have added five to their tally from their previous two alone.
Considering that their past two head to head fixtures also featured goals down each end, expect neither to walk away with a clean sheet intact at the last blast of the whistle.
