Celtic vs Cluj Stats
Celtic have been denied at Hibernian and saw a 1-1 draw on Saturday
Cluj shocked Lazio in a 2-1 win on the opening day of the campaign in Group E
Bhoys have never beaten Cluj, with two losses and a draw seen in three head-to-head clashes
Feroviarii have then seen two disappointing trips in Liga I, with a goalless draw at Steaua, and Romanian Cup, with a loss on penalties after a 2-2 draw at Botosani. However, they’ve now bounced back to the winning ways and we feel they’ll be very motivated to build on a comfortable home win over Gaz Metan Medias.
Still, they’ve struggled to turn clashes their way and Celtic will hope to capitalize on such a streak this time around. Neil Lennon’s men have seen similar struggles on the road and come into the match with a 1-1 draw behind them but it’s fair to say they’ve been more convincing at Celtic Park – with a five-match winning streak connected since the shock Champions League to the rivals (3-4).
Bhoys have beaten Dunfermline (2-1), AIK (2-0), Hearts (3-1), Kilmarnock (3-1), and Partick Thistle (5-0) along the way and they’ll surely hope they can build on such a goalscoring tally now. They’ve netted a total of 15 goals along the way and we feel they have what it takes to take revenge at this point.
We will thus back them to outgun the rivals to important points now and bag their first win in Group E, as we go for it at 8/15 with William Hill. We’ve seen them rather convincing lately and we feel there will be no surprises on the day.
We should be in for goals, though, and Cluj should force them into another thriller on the day. With that in mind, we’re also backing Over 2.5 Goals FT at 6/5 with Paddy Power. We’ve seen both sides enjoy high-scoring clashes lately and this should prove another such occasion.
